Pastor Candice Combs was called to New Life Lutheran as our pastor in May, 2021.  She is a second career pastor with gifts and talents for preaching, spiritual discernment, evangelism, and developing leaders.

Pastor Candice has brought tremendous exhuberance about the future of New Life Lutheran while honoring our past and those who have contributed over the years. 

We are grateful for Pastor Candice’s spiritual guidance, leadership, and the love that she has shown and shared so freely with all of us. We are grateful also to her family for all of the energy they bring to New Life. We consider ourselves blessed, and we look forward to many more years with Pastor Candice and the Combs family.

Pastor Candice Combs

Pastor Candice joined New Life Lutheran as our Spiritual Director in May, 2021.  She is a second career pastor with gifts and talents for preaching, spiritual discernment, evangelism, and developing leaders.

Originally, she arrived in Austin to work as a computer engineer.  After a few years, she sensed there was something more that she was being called to. So with prayer, grace, and guidance, she graduated from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 2016, and completed her Lutheran studies through Luther Seminary. 

Pastor Candice has made a brief tour through three Lutheran churches in the Austin area:  Triumphant Love (internship year), Shepherd of the Hills (Pastor of Family Ministry), and Immanuel, Pflugerville (transition pastor). She has previously been a guest preacher at New Life.

Her favorite pastoral work outside the church includes volunteering with Interfaith Action of Central Texas (iACT) and lobbying the legislature with Texas Impact. She enjoys running, science fiction, and especially time travel movies. Candice has been married for 23 years and has three children.
